Appliqued Cotton Chintz Broderie Perse Friendship Quilt, America, c. 1855, composed of twenty-five squares set on point and bordered with sixteen triangles of white cotton, each segment appliqued with a cut-out printed cotton chintz floral motif, separated by chintz sashing, pieced and quilted borders, most segments signed and dated, several with town and state of maker, including Columbia and Charleston, South Carolina, Savannah, Georgia, Danbury, Connecticut, and New York, backed and edged with white cotton, with diagonal line and diamond quilting, (toning, stains, fraying, losses), 99 x 98 1/2 in.
