Six-piece Victorian Silver Tea and Coffee Service, Sheffield, 1899-1900, Martin Hall & Co. , makers, comprised of pear-shaped coffeepot and creamer, squat round teapot, open sugar, kettle on stand, and water/milk ewer, all with heavily embossed decoration to bodies of clusters of flowers and leaves alternating with foliate and scrollwork-outlined cartouches on latticework ground, additional stylized geometric ornamentation and bands of beading, foliate spouts and ear-shaped handles, on round trumpet foot with foliate band, the four lidded pieces with heavily stylized floral finials and ivory heat stops to handles, the kettle stand with embossed and chased floral and foliate designs and cast floral and C-scroll swags, raised on four grotesque beast legs set on foliate feet, kettle on stand ht. 15, approx. 176 troy oz., sold with a two-handled serving tray with gadrooned rim, lg. 31 1/2 in. Most pieces with pin-pricks to vacant cartouches. Lid to coffee pot does not completely close. Kettle finial off kilter. All with minor surface and usage wear.
