Russian Peasant Icon, late 19th/early 20th century, with depictions of the Mother of God and Christ, a male saint, Michael Arkhistrategos, and St. George, centering Christ on the cross, 14 3/4 x 11 7/8 in. Loss and flaking to paint and gesso; particularly to 1. in section of left side and surrounding nail heads. Shrinkage crack to wood upper left. Craquelure, patched repair to St. George's leg and horse. Varnished. Surface grime. Panel slightly warped. Lacking riza and halos.
