Cased Five-piece Gorham Sterling Repoussé Tea and Coffee Service, 1883-84, comprised of squat round coffeepot, teapot, creamer, covered sugar, and open sugar, all with heavy overall repoussé decoration of a variety of flowers and leaves and gadrooned rims, with a band of leaves around the base of each and ear-shaped foliate handles, the lidded pieces with carved wooden melon-form finials, the coffeepot and teapot with carved wooden handles, each piece engraved to base "Caroline M. DeWitt, Nov. 4th, 1884"; together with three additional floral repoussé silver table articles: a Gorham tea caddy, a small Dominick & Haff creamer, and a Durgin covered dish with pierced insert, the creamer and dish also engraved "Caroline M. DeWitt" to bases, coffeepot ht. 6 1/2 in., approx. 94.1 troy oz. total. Very minor usage wear. Caddy with dent to foot and lid slightly out of round, although still fits well.
