Three-piece Japanese Sterling Desk Set, Samurai Shokai, Yokohama, double-well glass-lined inkpot with undertray and pen tray, with engraved floral and bamboo decoration, desk tray lg. 9 3/4 in., approx. 9. troy oz. weighable silver. Provenance: Property of Larz Anderson, acquired during his terms as ambassador to Japan and given directly to a relative of the consignor. Scattered small dents to inkpot and chips to rims of glass inkwells. Surface scratches and usage wear. Pen tray with re-soldered rim.
