Two Needlework Samplers, England and/or America, 1807, 1804, both worked in silk threads on a linen ground, one "Wrought this my Sampler June 29 1807" by Polly Willis, Bridgewater, England, with alphabets, pious verse, flowers, and strawberries, (fading, toning, stains), 16 1/2 x 11 1/2; the other with alphabets over a pious verse flanked by flowers, indistinct maker's name, wrought "July 9th 1804," (fading, toning), 15 x 13 3/4 in., both housed in later mahogany veneer frames.
