Mahogany Tall Clock by Elnathan Taber, Roxbury, Massachusetts, c. 1795, 13-inch painted iron dial marked Warranted by E. Taber with moon's age in the arch, brass top fluted free-standing columns on the hood and quarter columns flanking the rectangular waist door with line inlay, the lower section with line and marquetry inlays on a two-stage base molding, eight-day time and strike movement with two tin-cased weights and pendulum, ht. 96 in. Case in an old deteriorated finish, lacking feet, fret, dial repainted; although the dial is repainted, other Taber clocks are known in similar formal cases and the clock likely had an original Taber signature.
