"As Found" Japanned Tall Clock, possibly America, c. 1750, green lacquered case with remains of original japanning, dome top hood, three-quarter engaged columns flanking the glazed door, tombstone-shaped waist door, low base with bracket feet, 12-inch brass composite dial, applied chapter ring with 1/4 and 1/2 hour markings, matted center, seconds bit, recessed calendar, and "Strike-Silent" subsidiary dial in the arch against a star burst matted and painted background, gilded cast brass urn spandrels and pierced steel hands, eight-day time and rack strike, five-pillar movement with recoil escapement mounted on an oak seating board. "As Found"--What you see is what you get! Visible evidence on all surfaces of original decoration including raised areas on waist door.
