Burl Walnut Six Tune Musical Tall Clock by Jan Van Meurs, Amsterdam, c. 1780, with bell top, carved and gilded finials depicting two angels and Atlas, blind sound frets backed with fabric on the sides and facade, 13 1/2-inch composite brass dial signed on the silvered cartouche, Jan Van Meurs, Amsterdam , painted border and arch with moon's age, serpentine waist door with pendulum aperture on an inlaid bombe base, eight-day Dutch striking, six tune musical movement with 7-inch pin barrel, nest of thirteen bells and twenty-six hammers all powered by three brass cased weights and regulated by a pendulum, ht. approx. 113 in. Movement complete but in needs a complete overhaul, pendulum bob missing, top "bell" on hood is a replacement, bombe section is not glued to waist, but held with two period wooden latches, cracks and separation on the base, losses to inlay, sound vents probably old replacements, finials with broken elements and missing wings; a very restorable major Dutch musical clock.
