Smart, The Makers of Surveying Instruments in America Since 1700 , p. 40, John Dupee is found in Boston Town records in the early 1700s and two compasses are known in public collections. overall excellent condition, lacking brass tripod collar, dial glass cracked, dial with slight staining.
