Canvaswork Sewing Case Pocketbook, America, early 19th century, folding envelope-style pocketbook with wool cross-stitch in a lapped scale pattern with geometric border continuing to the interior stitched with the name "Elizabeth" on a leather-lined pocket, the interior lined with a hand-stitched printed linen with a silk ribbon gathered pocket, two small ribbon-suspended bags, a silk-edged woven wool needle holder, and two wool canvas work pincushions, (stitch losses, and fraying), 4 3/4 x 10 (closed), 16 1/4 x 10 in. (open). Several (about 25) fairly unobtrusive small scattered areas of stitch losses, but with a 3/4 x 3/4 in. area with a lot of losses.
