Red-painted Tin Candle Lantern, America, early 19th century, half-round lantern with flat hinged glazed door, handle on the back, decorative piercing on peaked chimney with ring handle, ht. 15 1/4 in. The glass- while it does have some age, is not original, it should be more wavy, there is red paint on some of the edges of the glass so the paint is as old as the glass, but not original. There is a small metal tab that was added possibly at the same time as the glass replacement, to help hold the glass in at the u.r top area. The candle cup looks to be original
