John Francis Murphy (American, 1853-1921) Autumn Landscape Signed "J. Francis Murphy" l.l. Oil on canvas, 11 7/8 x 16 in. (30.0 x 40.7 cm), framed. Condition: Retouch, craquelure, surface grime. Retouch to fill craquelure, primarily in the lower half of the composition. A few dots of retouch, measuring between 1/8 and 1/4 in. diameter, scattered in the lower half. One such dot corresponding to an area of repair visible on the reverse and located along the right side center, 1-3/4 inch in from the edge. A second similar spot is located 1 in. in from the right edge. Retouch along bottom edge, l.l., probably to repair frame abrasion. Craquelure overall appears stable.
