Edward Moran (American, 1829-1901) Ships at Sunset Signed "Edward Moran" l. l., artist identified on a presentation plaque, with a label from Edward A. Walz and Co., Philadelphia, on the back of the frame. Oil on canvas, 20 x 30 in. (50.8 x 76.2 cm), framed. Condition: Retouch, small area of craquelure with lifting, scattered craquelure. Provenance: Harris Galleries, New York, 1916, purchased by Lucien H. Washburn of Stony Point, New York, as a wedding gift to Mr. Frank C. Knapp; by descent to Katheryn Knapp Cronin; by descent to the current owner. Minor frame abrasion along top edge. Painting has been cleaned and restretched.
