Gabor F. Peterdi (Hungarian/American, 1915-2001) In the Stoneworks, alternatively titled Stonework, 1966 (Johnson, 260). Signed and dated "Peterdi '66" in pencil l.r., numbered "XII-2" in pencil l.l., identified on a label affixed to the backing. Etching with aquatint and stencil coloring on paper, plate size 13 3/4 x 10 7/8 in. (34.8 x 27.5 cm), framed. Condition: Subtle rippling, several stains to edge of image and margins, not examined out of frame. Provenance: Through the family of Eleanor Kanegis Levin, co-owner of Kanegis Gallery in Boston from 1953 to 1961, and the Retina Gallery in Cambridge from 1968 to 1971.
