German Tower-form Besamim Box Spice Container, mid-late 19th century, realistically formed as a replica of the Eschenheimer Turm in Frankfurt am Main, the lid formed as peaked turret with tiny pennant, and with four small keeps, body reticulated with small slit windows, and chased and embossed with rustication, with slightly flaring rusticated base rim, ht. 6 3/8 in., approx. 5 troy oz. Note: Eschenheimer Turm is the only remaining mediaeval tower in the city of Frankfurt am Main. minor bends to crenellation at lid, and to interior rim of lid. minor age wear.
