Japanese Silver Bowl and Cover, late 19th century, Yokohama, Musashiya, maker, oval, with scalloped rim, the lid mounted with a carved hardstone finial, lid and body chased and embossed with irises, bowl with removable silver liner, ht. 4 1/4, dia. 5 1/4 in., approx. 14 troy oz. minor age wear. liner with small base dent, traces of gilding; not marked. interior of bowl applied with on ovoid piece of silver, possibly a strengthener? (does not appear to be a repair).
