After Françoise Nicolas Martinet (French, 1725-1804) Six Hand-colored Ornithological Prints from L'Imprimerie Royale, Paris, c. 1770-1786. Three signed "martinet." in the plates l.l., three unsigned, identified on a hanging tag. Hand-colored engravings on laid paper, plate marks to 10 x 8 1/4 in. (25.4 x 21.0 cm), framed. Condition: Subtle handling creases, light soiling, Le Têtma with glue residue along top edge, not examined out of frames. The three signed plates include: Le Tyran (pl. 537); Le Pluvian, du Senégal (pl. 918) ; and Le grand Coucou mâle, de Madagascar (pl. 587) . The three unsigned plates include: L'Ombrette, du Sénégal (pl. 796); Le Têtma, de Cayenne (pl. 821) ; and Le Tangaroux, de Cayenne (pl. 711) . Le Tyran has a pencil inscription partially visible along the bottom edge.
