Pietro Sassi (Italian, 1834-1905) Classical Ruins in Rome Signed, inscribed, and dated "P. Sassi/Roma 1905" l.l. Oil on cardboard, sight size 6 3/8 x 9 7/16 in. (15.8 x 24.0 cm), framed. Condition: Small hole left edge, surface grime, not examined out of frame. Label from John M. Wiseman, Gilder and Picture Framer, Newport, R.I. affixed to the backing paper. The hole, measuring about 0.1 cm, is located at the outer edge 2 in. down from the corner, and appears to have been made by a screw eye that was attached through the support to the frame.
