Honore Pellegrin (French, 1793-1869) Portrait of the Bark Anna Reynolds Leaving Marseilles , 1839. Signed and dated 1839 l.r. Watercolor on paper, 18 1/4 x 26 1/8 in., in a period molded giltwood frame. Condition: Paper applied to paperboard, toning, scattered foxing, trimmed, lower edge touched up. Note: The bark Anna Reynolds was built in 1838, in Lewiston, Delaware. She weighed 197 tons. She later became a mining company bark, trading between San Francisco via Cape Horn, Talcahuano, the Sandwich Islands, and other ports. The work was trimmed along the edges with the lower edge touched up with black.
