Thomas Luny (British, 1759-1837) The Prince William Henry in Two Positions and other Shipping in Coastal Wat ers Signed and dated "T. Luny 1780" l.l., vessel identified on the stern. Oil on canvas, 38 x 54 1/4 in., in a gilt-gesso molded wood frame. Condition: Relined, retouch, stable craquelure. Note: The Prince William Henry belonged to the East India Company, and was in service 1787-1800, during which she made five voyages to the Far East or India. Scattered retouch numerous small to 1/2 dia. spots to sky, a few spots to large vessel, one about 1/2 in., left edge with repaint likely from frame rub.
