Antonio Nicolo Gasparo Jacobsen (Danish/American, 1850-1921) Portrait of the French Screw-Steamer France. Signed and dated "A Jacobsen NY 1878" over "257..." l.r., vessel identified on the bow. Oil on canvas, 22 x 36 in., in a period molded giltwood frame. Condition: Relined, retouch, prevalent in sky, scattered areas on vessel, water and edges. Note: The French steamship France was built by Chantier de Penhoet, St. Nazaire, and launched October 1, 1864.
