Coin Silver Presentation Pitcher, Jones, Ball & Poor, Boston, mid-19th century, with engraved presentation under the spout, "Simeon Atwood Jr. /Presented by the Ladies Social Aid Society/Wellfleet.,"(Massachusetts), impressed maker's marks and engraved date "1852" on base, ht. 7 in., approx. 9 troy oz. Note: Simeon Atwood (1825-1901) of Wellfleet, Massachusetts, was a hardware merchant and grocer and active in politics and principle businesses of the town. In 1860 he represented the district in the legislature. He was deputy collector and inspector of the customs for the port of Wellfleet, held a commission to qualify civil officers, was a justice of the peace, and acted as the town moderator.
