Chinese Export Armorial Porcelain Tureen, 18th century, pomegranate fruit-form knop on cover of chamfered rectangular footed bowl, with boar's head handles, large armorial crests to cover and sides, gilt spearhead rim border, (glaze loss to handles, repaired chip to knop on cover), ht. 8 1/2, wd. 9, lg. 14 in. . Note: This porcelain was reportedly made for John Whelan, Norfolk, England, on his marriage in 1741 to Ann, daughter of William Shelton. Glaze loss to handles, unobtrusive repaired chip to pomegranate knop on cover, area of repair is about 3/4 in. in diameter.
