Pair of Chinese Export Porcelain Armorial Octagonal Platters, 18th century, chamfered rectangular platters centered with large armorial crests, gilt spearhead rim border, 13 x 16 1/2 in. . Note: This porcelain was reportedly made for John Whelan, Norfolk, England, on his marriage in 1741 to Ann, daughter of William Shelton. Platter 1- small 1/4 in chip to underside of rim; platter 2- five small chips to underside of rim, enamel and glaze wear to spots oncentral armorial motif.
