Sixth Plate Ambrotype of a Civil War Union Officer and Tintype of a Union Soldier, the ambrotype of the officer with printed label on backing paper "... L.B. Howard N. Bridgewater, Mass." the tintype inscribed on the reverse: "Taken at Newbern, No. Carolina, 1863 W.L.W. Private C. E. 44th Mass.", together in a single black "Constitution and the Laws" (Krainik 113) Union frame, (the ambrotype with crackled background, some crackles filled with graphite, minor scratches to tintype). Note: The soldier may possibly be Charles C. Ellis of Company G or Charles C. Ewer of Company D of the Massachusetts 44th Regiment.
