American, last half of 19th century (circa 1870). Maple wood side chair carved in faux bamboo motif throughout frame with upholstered seat in gold and yellow striped silk upholstery. Height 32.25", width 17.5", depth 16.5". Seat to floor 18.5". Provenance: Golden & Associates, Antiques of Distinction, Charleston, South Carolina whereby acquired by Mrs. Dorothy Edwards, Atlanta, Georgia in 1998.
