Monumental Bronze, Gold, and Shakudo Urn , Japan, 19th century, the urn-shaped body with flaring rim inlaid with gold, key-fret design on lip, below the lip a border depicting chased and gold inlaid scrolling lotus and tendrils, the front and back with a lotus roundel depicting two phoenix and scrolling lotus and tendrils with inlaid gold and shakudo , above a taotie mask with inlaid gold eyes, the urn with a stylized key-fret ground, stylized dragon handles with inlaid gold circle, the pedestal base with gold and shakudo design of inlaid gold chrysanthemums, a deep border depicting stylized scrolling dragons with gold inlaid geometric designs, with four reverse S-curved feet, ht. 29 3/4 in. in good condition
