Tiffany & Co. Japanese-style Sterling Silver Creamer and Open Sugar, New York, c. 1870-75, each with die-rolled border and cast "ear handles" with pine and cherry boughs and geometric piercings, foot with cranes and foliage set within a geometric motif, monogrammed, ht. to 5 1/2 in., approx. 14 troy oz. Literature: A similar pair is illustrated in Tiffany Silver , by Charles H. Carpenter, Jr. and Mary Grace Carpenter, p. 165, fig. 262. The authors state that the Tiffany plant journal indicates the two were a separate pair and not part of a tea set. Scattered minor pitting and surface abrasions.
