Sterling Silver Tea and Coffee Service, New York, 1854-70, each with repousse ivy vines raised on a stippled background with an engraved armorial to the body; each lid with a pinecone final, and each spout and handle rising from a grotesque mask on the body; consisting of a coffeepot, teapot, covered sugar, creamer and open waste, coffeepot ht. 11 1/4 in., approx. 121.3 troy oz.; together with an English silver-plated tray with engraved armorial and husk border. Literature: Similar service illustrated and discussed in Tiffany Silver by Charles H. Carpenter, p. 72-75, fig. 71-73. Waste with several pinprick dents to the underside of the base. Covered sugar with two pinprick dents to one handle, and finial bent slightly with related shallow distoration to lid. Teapot with replaced heat stops and small area of plastic residue near lower heat stop on the interior of the handle. Coffee pot with one pinprick dent to the underside of the foot.
