Two Commemorative Ceramic Items, a Chelsea Pottery yellow ochre-glazed relief art tile designed by Elihu Vedder, depicting Annie Russell in the title role of Esmeralda and commemorating the 150th show at Madison Square Theater, impressed "J & J. G. LOW. PATENT ART TILE WORKS CHELSEA, MASS. U.S.A. COPYRIGHT 1881 BY J & J. G. LOW." on the reverse, 6 1/4 x 6 1/4; and a cobalt transfer-decorated plate depicting Park Theater, New York, within a border of acorns and oak leaves, subject identified on the reverse, dia. 10 1/8 in. Tile with small scattered chips and nicks to edges. Scattered glaze flakes to raised elements on tile. Plate several smoothed-out chips to rim and surface abrasions.
