American Victorian Rosewood Secretary Bookcase, c. 1900, in two sections, the upper section with molded pediment over two fielded and mirrored doors enclosing a shelved interior, and applied blind fretwork, the protruding lower section with roll-top enclosing interior fitted with valanced compartments, drawers, and pull-out leather-inset writing surface, and decorated with further blind fretwork, over two short drawers, serpentine apron, and curved legs ending in paw feet, the apron and knees carved with flowerheads and foliage, on wheeled casters, ht. 86 1/4, wd. 44, dp. 23 1/4 in. Loss to molding along top edge and lower section beneath drawer (included). Surface abrasions consistent with usage along front section of desk where writing surface pulls out. Scattered veneer chips including some to interior compartment.
