20th century. Carved and stained wood figural candle stand or pricket with reeded circular candle holder at top above male gladiator's helmeted head. Gladiator figure in traditional dress and holding an oval shield with lion motif. Gladiator standing at full length on a capital form further raised on a circular base encircled with fruit and nut wreath raised on three feet. Unmarked. Height 28", diameter of circular bottom 12.2".
