Izannah Walker Cloth Doll, Central Falls, Rhode Island, mid-19th century, stockinet pressed into mold, facial features and hair oil-painted, applied ears, single sausage curl in front of each ear, wispy hair at nape of neck, lower limbs painted, bare feet with stitched toes, white cotton undergarments, russet plaid cotton dress, brown leather tie shoes, ht. 18 1/2 in. Provenance: From the collection of Ruth C. Burger. Crackling to finish, some paint loss, some in-painting, hands show wear and paint loss, some mending to bare feet at ankles, dress appears to be of the period.
