American Five-String Banjo, Vega Company, Boston, c. 1895, Model Fairbnks Whyte Laydie , stamped 24927 on the inside pot and dowel stick, branded WHYTE LAYDIE and labeled THE AC FAIRBANKS CO, MAKERS, BOSTON MASS on the dowel stick tag, the 28-bracket rim, diameter of head 10 3/4 in, with later case. Very good. Three-point horseshoe neck brace, square dowel stick ferrule, scalloped tone ring on 3/16" hoop.
