David Johnson (American, 1827-1908) ... New Rochelle. N-Y. Inscribed and signed "...David Johnson..." on the reverse. Oil on panel, 12 x 16 in. (30.5 x 40.7 cm), framed. Condition: Scattered minor retouch, craquelure, surface grime, backed with Masonite. The inscription on the reverse is partially obscurred by a Masonite backing that has been firmly glued to the back of the work. One spot of retouch to sky of the u.r quadrant measuring approx. 1/4 x 1/8 in.; one area of retouch to l.r. quadrant in river above the reeds measuring approx. 1 x 1 in.; craquelure to areas of heavier impasto in l.l. and l.r. quadrants; no additional condition issues to report.
