Francisco de Goya (Spanish, 1746-1828) La rinde el Sueño, plate 34 from LOS CAPRICHOS , from the first edition, 1799 (Harris, 69 iii/iii). Identified within the plate. Etching with aquatint on laid paper, plate size 8 1/2 x 6 in. (21.5 x 15.2 cm), matted, unframed. Condition: Margins 1/2 inch or more, foxing and water staining, subtle surface rubs near upper edge on image, annotations to lower margin and verso. N.B. Sold for the benefit of the collections of the Smith College Museum of Art. Sheet size 11-15/16 x up to 7-5/8 inches (30.2 x up to 19.6 cm). The sheet is irregularly trimmed along left edge, with a variance of about 1/4 inch.
