Mahogany Patent Timepiece or "Banjo Clock," marked "Aaron Willard, Boston", c. 1825, with painted iron Roman numeral dial marked as above, half-round mahogany frames enclosing reverse-paintings on glass, the lower depicting a rural mill scene, the waist glass with red, blue, white, and gold scrolled designs, eight-day brass timepiece with skeletonized plates and recoil escapement powered by an iron weight and regulated by a brass faced pendulum, ht. 34 in. Note: Skelentonized movement in this clock is related to others by the Billings clockmakers of Acton, Massachusetts. Willard signature appears to be added, glasses repainted, period weight, pendulum and hands.
