Benjamin Willard Tall Clock, Roxbury, Massachusetts, no. 207, c. 1780, silvered sheet brass dial engraved Benja. Willard Roxbury , No. 207 , and Ab Hoc Momento Pendet Eternitas with a phoenix in the arch, the fret-top maple case with fan-carved waist door flanked by thumbnail corners, all on a two-stage molded bracket foot base, eight-day time and strike movement with rack and snail strike regulated by a wooden pendulum rod and brass-faced bob all powered by two period iron weights, ht. 87 1/2 in. Case in mellow old surface, original fret work with some losses, brass finials are old replacements, object left side glass cracked and with a loss, dovetailed bottom board now gone, appears to retain the original pads on the bottom of the feet, dial resilvered with remains of original red wax, movement original to dial, movement/dial original to case, original components and winder.
