Steuben Thomas Edison Plaque Luminar Art glass and metal New York Rectangular colorless glass plaque with intaglio profile of Thomas Edison, Steuben fleur-de-lis mark on bottom edge fitted to a metal mount marked Edison Association Illuminating Co. 1885, some surface scratches, small nicks to edge, base without illumination device or cord, ht. of plaque 8 5/8, total ht. 10 3/4, wd. 8 1/2, dp. 2 3/4 in. Provenance: The Estate of Ruth E. Stetson. Note: This plaque was a special order for the Ford Motor Company in 1929. It was created to celebrate the Ford and Edison union of lighting. Ford ordered only 300 of these and gave them to dinner guests at the union celebration. As it was created before 1933 it is considered part of the Frederick Carder period.
