Provincial Carved Blanket Chest, France, front carving late 18th century, the frame 19th century, hinged top with two handles to the side, front decorated with two rows of carving consisting of a central roundel flanked by floral motifs and an ovoid boss flanked by scrolls and foliate carving, raised on four stile feet, ht. 24, wd. 45 1/2, dp. 22 1/2 in. Front decorative row originally drawer fronts from a portion of a chest of drawers or commode.
