London: Published by G & J Cary, St. James's, Jan. 4th 1826. , the twelve engraved paper gores with countries and territories shaded in various colors, the coasts outlined, Alaska labeled "Russian America," the American southwest labeled "Mexico," South Africa shown as "Unknown Parts," the oceans marked with the tracks of various explorers, with brass meridian ring with degrees and polar hour ring, the paper on wood red-rimmed horizon ring with decorative border and Gregorian and Zodiacal calendars, with string-inlaid frame, on three turned mahogany legs joined by stretchers, ht. 22 3/4 in. Scattered loss to edges of gores. Old repairs and layer of lacquer. Crude repair to bottom of globe. Discoloration and surface grime. Loss to horizon ring and veneered frame. Nicks, scuffs, and age wear to stand. Globe rotation is stiff.
