Two piece of Herend porcelain in the Rothschild Bird (RO) pattern comprised of a square cake plate with branch form handles( width 9.5") and a vegetable dish, no cover (height 5") Both white porcelain decorated with birds and insects, accented with 24kt gold. First created in 1860 for the Rothschild family of Europe, the Twelve different motifs portray a 19th century tale about Baroness Rothschild, who lost her pearl necklace in the garden of her Vienna residence. Several days later it was found by her gardener, who saw birds playing with it in a tree.
