Chinese Export Brass-mounted Polychrome Paint-decorated Black Leather-clad Camphorwood Trunk, the interior with partial oval red printed label, ht. 16 1/4, lg. 36 in. Provenance: A tag accompanying the trunk notes that it was originally purchased by sea captain Richard Delano Blinn (1791-1841). Capt. Blinn commanded the Partheon , one of twelve missionary ships to leave Boston in 1819, arriving in the Hawaiian Islands in 1828. Capt. Blinn died onboard ship in the Bering Sea.
