Polychrome-painted Grand Army of the Republic Post Sign, Richmond, Vermont, late 19th/early 20th century, painted pine panel with breadboard ends, depicting a waving American flag with painted inscription "GAR/B. M. Barber Post No. 77" on a brown ground, (loss to top edge of panel), 18 1/2 x 33 in. Note: The GAR (Grand Army of the Republic) was a fraternal organization composed of veterans of the Union Army, Navy, Marines, and Revenue Cutter Service who served in the American Civil War.
