Two Osborn Family Needlework Samplers, Weare, New Hampshire, c. 1830, stitched in ta similar style by sisters Abigail H. and Phebe H. Osborn of Weare, New Hampshire, worked in silk threads on a linen ground, with rows of alphabets over signature lines: "Wrought by Abigail H. Osborn in the 10th year of her age 1830" and "Wrought by Phebe H. Osborn in the 11th year of her age," followed by family monograms, the rows interspersed and surrounded by geometric borders, (toning), 9 x 17 1/2, 9 1/2 x 18 in., in later molded giltwood frames. Provenance: Purchased from Henry T. Osborne, at the Osborne Homestead in Weare, New Hampshire. Henry was a direct descendant of Moses Osborn, a cabinetmaker working in Weare, New Hampshire. The sisters were the cabinetmaker's granddaughters.
