Needlework Sampler with Basket of Fruit Design, "Fanny Hale 1824," stitched with silk threads on a linen ground, the center reserve with a poem titled "Primeval Bliss" over a large basket of fruit surrounded by grape tendrils and scrolling leaves with a large rose blossom to the right, and below, two small baskets of fruit, trees, and Fanny's signature and date within a flowering oval wreath, surrounded by strawberry vines, geometric borders, and horizontal and vertical alphabets and numerals, the outer borders stitched with scrolling and meandering flowering vines, large rose blossoms and leaves on the bottom border, and sawtooth border on three edges, (imperfections), 22 x 21 1/2 in. , in a later frame. Minor toning and fading, minor thread loss on the verse, the work is glued onto carboard.
