Mark Tobey (American, 1890-1976) Untitled, 1958 Signed and dated "Tobey 58" in pencil l. r., inscribed "Harold Diamond" in pen and identified on a label affixed to the paper backing. Watercolor on Valley Onion Skin paper, sheet size 10 7/8 x 8 5/8 in. (27.6 x 21.9 cm), framed. Condition: Taped to backing mat at u.l. and u.r. corners. Provenance: Purchased from Oscar Krasner Inc., New York, January 26, 1963; estate of an arts benefactor, New York. N.B. Paper taped to backing mat; very subtle rippling; mat burn; due to the thinness of paper and the strength of paper tape mount (not hinges) we unfortunately cannnot photograph the full sheet verso; no additional condition issues to report.
