Hazel Finck (American, 1894-1977) Perhaps It's Fun to be Homeless , 1946 Signed "finck" l. r., identified on the artist's label affixed to the stretcher. Oil and tempera on canvas, 36 x 28 1/4 in. (91.4 x 71.8 cm), framed. Condition: Minor retouch, craquelure, minor surface grime, minor abrasions along frame liner. Exhibitions: Audubon Artists, Inc., New York, Annual Exhibition, 1946; Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Philadelphia, 1947. Minor retouch over a vertical line of craquelure located u.l. corner and measuring 3 3/4 in. A similar area of craquelure with retouch (about 4 inches) located to the u.l. in the man's t-shirt at his proper right shoulder and extending into his cheek. Another similar area located u.r. quadrant in the sky above the car, measuring 4 1/4 inches, with a small area of craquelure with lifting to the left of the repair. Dimple in canvas to l.r. quadrant in the seat of the woman's slacks, with tiny paint losses, minor craquelure and retouch. Small paint loss to l.r. corner measuring less than 1/8 inch. Areas of inconsistent varnish application and drips.
