Octavo, first edition, two volumes in one, with the folding table, bound in contemporary calfskin with red label, front board detached, 18th century American ownership inscriptions. In addition to contributions to Irish husbandry, the text also includes a chart showing that 150 acres of land will provide a farmer with four hundred and two pounds sterling in profit per year, an account of Varlo's year-long American tour, instructions on the farming of tobacco, "India-corn", and hemp, and an address to the Irish legislature, in which Varlo advocates the institution of a luxury tax to provide for the poor.
